Revs De Cuba Launches It’s New Menu | Review
A few weeks ago, me and Jess were well overdue a lady date so we booked in with Revolucion De Cuba* for some tapas and a cocktail or two for a good old catch up.
I’m a huge fan of Cuba’s food, cocktails and lively atmosphere so when I heard they’d added a few newbies to their menu, I knew I had to sample as many as I could!
We decided on drinks first of all after being shown our quiet corner booth with a nice big seating area, perfect to relax and unwind after a long day at work.
I picked a new addition, the Carnival Cooler made with Cachaca, Koko Kanu Rum with coconut, vanilla and pineapple flavours which was like a dream to drink.
Jess chose a classic tropical drink, the Mangoes To Cuba cocktail made with Rum, lime, mango, mint, Ting and added raspberries – very refreshing and easy to drink.
After the lovely and attentive waiter, Mike, made a few food suggestions and took our lengthy order, we had a chat and admired the interesting decor.
When it came to the food, we chose 6 tapas dishes to share and a side that we could not refuse and let me tell you… There was A LOT of food on our table.
Here’s a quick snap of us with our feast for two and before we gained around a stone in food babies.
The tapas dishes are a generous portion size and perfect if you’re wanting to try a few different things including meat, fish and some veggies too!
Me and Jess are not the biggest fish fans so we chose a selection from the meat and veg options which were all served piping hot – perfect.
A few of these dishes we’ve tried before, others had undergone a makeover and some dishes were completely new.
The dishes that stood out the most to me were the Grilled Lamb Chops which are part of a new Primo Tapas section which is included in the 3 for £13 deal with a £2.50 supplement.
There were three chops one the plate lathered with zesty chimichurri which added a real depth of flavour to the silky meat.
I also loved the side of Cheesy Cuban Fries which were covered in paprika and cheese sauce – great for spicing up a side dish. These would be perfect as a snack accompanied by a beer or a cocktail.
Everything was cooked to perfection and there were no complaints from us; we even managed to polish off everything minus a few fries and nachos (I think we were rather hungry).
Although we were stuffed, I couldn’t turn down noseying at the dessert menu. To my delight they had added some Coconut Ice Cream to the menu which I couldn’t say no to.
The scoops were creamy, light and had little crunchy coconut bits which were sublime. It was topped by warm grilled pineapple which I wasn’t too keen on but I polished the ice cream off all the same.
Jess chose to have Cuba’s famous Churros which were accompanied by chocolate and dulce de leche sauces.
I even managed to help eat these as this is a big enough portion for two! The Churros are not greasy at all and are rolled in cinnamon sugar to add that extra crunch.
Mike, the waiter, mentioned to us that he’s in the process of creating a cocktail with the Coconut Ice Cream so I cheekily asked if we could have a sample and he agreed happily.
A few moments later, we brought over some glasses with a taste of the concoction to try.
He told us it had Koko Kanu, blended ice cream and a dash of cocktail cherry juice which was like practically a match made in heaven for me. I love both coconuts and cherries so I was very excited to have a sip of this.
It was the smoothest, silkiest taste which was sweet and summery. I love creamy cocktails and this is up there with one of my favourite mixes – hopefully it’ll get added to the menu some time soon!
After a lovely couple of hours stuffing our faces and chatting away, it was time to head home for some kip.
Thank you to Mike for the wonderful service and Danius for the lovely food, everything was delicious!
